I consider myself very lucky as the island has been a major feature in my life since my early 20’s. When my parents first moved here back in the 80’s I grabbed the opportunity to join them in their new villa near Limassol and quickly settled into island life getting familiar with its customs, traditions and of course all the red tape that accompanies moving abroad. 20 years on I’m back on the island with my husband and our son after spending 10 years in the UK supporting my husband’s military career. We’re living on the west coast between the beautiful villages of Episkopi and Pissouri and take every opportunity to travel the length and breadth of Cyprus soaking up all this corner of the Mediterranean has to offer.
We’ve met so many characters, visited some gorgeous places and occasionally got caught out in the odd “tourist trap”. Within the pages of this website I would like to delve into our many experiences (both good and bad) providing you with some useful info for your holiday or pending move to the island. As the site grows there’ll be pages and links on Hotels, villa accommodation, hiring a car and getting married in Cyprus (we have first hand experience of this). Diving, sailing and playing golf on island are all family pastimes so I’ll call upon my various family ‘experts’ to clue you in with their personal knowledge. Beaches, where they are and who they’re good for. There’ll be a section on local food including recipes and restaurant reviews and as Northern Cyprus is now ‘back on the map’ check out where we’ve been and whether we’d go back…….
So in a nutshell if you want to tap into a treasure trove of 'local' knowledge. Get to know the stuff that travel brochures and other guides leave out. Clue up on places and things that annoyingly only come to light when you speak to a local on the last day of your holiday or spend fruitless days searching for, browse the site. We will strive to include and update the sort of information 'we' crave when researching somewhere new. But of course, if we fall short and don't cover something you're interested in or you just want to know more about something on our site please let us know.
