Find out what's hot and what's not in Limassol Cyprus from your on island local guide.
Limassol, Cyprus' largest tourist resort stretches for more than 10 km along the southern coast of Cyprus with the Troodos mountains creating a dramatic back drop to the rear. The city strives to marry its busy commercial role with the lively hospitatility visitors come to discover in its busy tourist centre of Yermasoyia. By and large it manages to merge the two quite successfully, though if you're looking for a quieter pace and a touch of old style Cyprus, Limassol is probably not the resort for you.
If on the other hand you're looking for a resort that can offer you a good mix of holiday entertainment, a lively nightlife and great selection of bars and restaurants Limassol Cyprus is ideal.
A swathe of tourist hotels starting in the Amathus area to the east of the city run along the seafront where they are met by the main tourist centre of Yermasoyia.
This is the hub of Limassols nightlife with a host of bars, clubs and restaurants.
Certain areas are more family orientated such as the cluster of restaurants around the dry river bed where you can enjoy a well priced evening meal while you're entertained by Cypriot dance troupes (be warned wearing a fake cast and carrying crutches is probably the only way you'll avoid getting dragged up to join in, so get practicing your Zorba).
Satellite areas of bars and restaurants can be found the length of the seafront mostly clustered around the larger resort hotels and if you're looking for a good night out away from the mêlée of the nightclub zone then this is where to head.
In recent years an ongoing programme of rejuvenation has seen a much needed breath of life infused into the area around the old port of Limassol Cyprus.
The slickly converted old stone buildings of the Carob Mill located behind the Limassol castle have been transformed into a contemporary venue for some of the city’s most stylish bars and restaurants.
Riding on the back of this transformation the existing tavernas that have huddled around the castle for years are enjoying a long awaited resurgence in popularity.
In fact considering the various trendy eateries and bars that have ensconced themselves within the architecturally beautiful old quarter of Limassol, the St Andreou area has really hit the map; becoming the hot new place to spend the evening in Limassol Cyprus
So that's got your evenings covered but what's there to do in Limassol by day.
Well there's the obvious of course..... soak up all the gorgeous sunshine around the pool or at the beach.
For the more energetic toddle along to one of the many water sports centres dotted along the resort beaches to indulge in some energising activity.
Choose from Water skiing and Para sending to the more sedate pedaloes.
Theres sure to be something to entice the adventurous of you out onto the mediterranean waves.
Of course if you prefer to take things at a slower pace indulge in a bit of people watching from one of the pavement cafes that Limassol Cyprus is famous for. Try the local Frappe (coffee made with milk over ice) it's a very refreshing way to get your caffeine hit.
In recent years the municipality have gone to great lengths to give the Limassol seafront a face lift.
You can now while away an hour or so taking a walk along the Limassol promenade which is dotted with benches for a well earned rest and numerous play areas for the little ones.
For the more energetic that would like to turn this walk into a daily constitutional, start off on the board walk at the beach front in Amathus and see how far you can get. The Promenade finishes down at the old port but don't worry there are plenty of Local buses and taxis along the seafront to take you back to your accommodation when you've had enough.
When it's time to get out of the sun head to one of the great Limassol retaurants for a spot of lunch or what about some retail therapy.

An exciting future development on the cards for this vibrant sea board resort is the Limassol marina which will be built in the area between the old and new ports.
I'm sure the 1000 yacht marina, due to be completed in 2011, will be a valuable addition to the cities already diverse tourism portfolio...
