Limassol Cyprus Shopping Locations..... Let under The Cyprus Sun help you discover popular and local haunts.

Limassol Cyprus shopping locations are a great place to head for when it's time to get out of the sun
Like the bars and restaurants in Limassol, the shops are grouped in distinctly separate areas. As you read through this page you may like to come back to this

For your traditional souvenirs and Cyprus handicrafts, head for the old quarter of Limassol. Most of St Andreou (Andrews’s st) has been pedestrianised so you can amble happily around the quaint old streets visiting shops selling lace, pottery and leather goods.
Tailoring is a long standing skill practiced by Cypriots, so guys' if you fancy a made to measure suit drop into one of the many tailor shops in this area. They'll help you choose from an astounding range of fabrics and furnish you with a bespoke hand finished suit in a matter of days.
Ladies theres no need to feel left out. If you sew and struggle to find fabric retailers in the UK bring an extra case. There are some fantastic fabric outlets in the old town selling gorgeous evening fabrics and beautiful linen. One of my favourites is Paphitis in a side street off Andrews’s st before you get to the CYTA Telecom building (opposite Ayia Napa church)
Walking out of the old town keeping the sea on your right turn left up Anexartiseas Street (watch out for the traffic as you've left the pedestrianised area now). You're now in the lively retail area favoured by young fashion conscious Limassolians.
You'll find a host of trendy boutiques sporting all the latest international brand names alongside some lesser known offerings from Greece and Italy.
As every girl knows no outfit is complete with out 'new' shoes...... and you certainly won't have any trouble satisfying a shoe fetish in Limassol. Both Andrews St and Anexartiseas are crammed with shoe shops stocking international and locally made ranges. So leave the hubby in a bar out on the front and go enjoy!!! If you need something totally unique a few shoemakers can be found back in the old area of town near the Turkish baths.
* Note to parents *
If you have young children in buggies the non pedestrianised streets of the old town are extremely difficult to navigate as the few pavements that exist are invariably broken or have cars parked upon them...... we can only hope that at some point during the rejuvenation programme of this area the Limassol municipality will turn their attention to rectifying this short coming.
In recent years International Brand names have made an appearance in the Limassol Cyprus shopping arena. Limassol has two branches of the UK household name Debenhams. The largest is on the seafront along from the Holiday Inn hotel and a smaller branch is off Makarios Avenue (this also has a branch of Next attached).
Don't expect anything new here, both stores stock a smaller more condensed range of the goods available from this well known UK retailer (very handy if you need an extra bikini or a new frock to hit the clubs in).
Oh and along the same vein we have a pretty good branch of Marks and Spencer just off the lower end of Makarios Avenue; again offering a more condensed range of goods but a welcome shopping opportunity amongst the expat community.
Both of these UK retailers have in store cafeteria style restaurants with Debenhams offering a very good value self service salad bar.
Makarios Avenue stretching from the seafront up into the commercial centre of the city, is traditionally the home of Limassol's designer name retailers. Most of the fashion houses are grouped along lower Makarios near Curium (kourion) roundabout, giving way to White good and electrical retailers as the avenue reaches the more commercial districts of Limassol.
As with many of Limassol Cyprus shopping areas the avenue can be a bit tricky to navigate particularly if you're on foot with buggies or wheelchairs. The locals tend to drive its length screaming to a halt and abandoning their cars on the pavement whenever they see a shop they like the look of making the pavements virtually impassable. However, if you have the stamina and a budget to match the fashionistas among you will find it worth a visit.
If you're planning a longer trip to the island I'm sure you're keen to know where the larger Supermarkets are. The small kiosk and convenience stores, prevalent throughout the Limassol tourist area, are fine for soft drinks, a quick snack or a top up on the sun lotion but those of you staying in self catering accommodation or moving into your new home will need to stock up.
We have a variety of supermarket chains competing in the Limassol Cyprus shopping marketplace. All offer great local produce alongside an ever increasing range of international brands. Many nationalities are catered for offering the large and varied expat community the familiarity of 'brands from home'.
In recent years the French supermarket chain Carrefour has established itself across the island and has two branches in Limassol. The largest is on the outskirts of the city to the west between Zygaki and Makedonicos Avenue and the smaller, but more central branch, is on Grivas Dighenis in the Columbia area.
Orphanides is the island based competitor with branches just off the Limassol to Paphos highway at the new port roundabout and the other is in Zygaki.
Both of these chains offer the full compliment of groceries, household, electrical, homewares and fashion.
These Limassol shopping stores now have a new competitor as the Greek chain Alpha Mega have come to town. Their store is located between the seafront and the Grivas Dighenis traffic lights, a stones throw from the fire Station. They concentrate on fresh and frozen food and household groceries, but also have a small home wares department. In my opinion their butchery, deli, salad produce and bakery far out shine their competitors and the staff are extremely well trained and helpful. On the whole it may not be the cheapest supermarket in town but if you're looking for excellent produce or an unusual ingredient from experience this is where to head.
With food, fashion and souvenirs covered it's time to mention the other stores that newcomers to the island seem to search for in their first few months.
Furniture and electrical shops are mostly grouped at the top of Makarios avenue, along the length of Makedonicas avenue plus a few on Grivas digenis.
In addition to the Limassol cyprus shopping areas mentioned above for furniture it's worth making a trip onto the Linopetra industrial estate to find a variety of small businesses with furniture showrooms and manufacturing units. Many of these will make to your specifications or modify their existing designs.
Hardware outlets can be found throughout Limassol Cyprus shopping districts but we now have a few large stores.
