Bev and Phil had a glorious October wedding at the Germasoyia Cultural centre in Limassol

They've kindly sent an account of their day into Weddings under the Cyprus Sun... Thank you both. We were glad to help with the plans for your big day!
Bev & Phil
Married 15 October 2009
At Germasoyia Cultural Centre Limassol district
Eighteen friends and family attended the happy event
Did you use a wedding planner, tour operator or plan it yourself?... We planned our wedding ourselves but with a little help originally from Under the Cyprus Sun Wedding site. I emailed Michele, the owner of Weddings under the Cyprus Sun for some advice on Cakes and was put in touch with Patricia Papamicheal of
Board with tiers
who made our cake and Anne, Weddings under the Cyprus Sun's in house florist; who prepared our flowers.
The venue we had already seen as we have visited Cyprus many times and its in one of our favourite villages. In March 2009 we were in Cyprus for the World Rally championships and decided that after over 13 years together it was time to marry in a place we love and have visited many times.
Originally we were only going to have a small wedding but once we told family they all invited themselves over to Cyprus for one or two weeks. We are so glad they all came we had a great time.
Tell us all about the day...Our wedding was at 4pm on Thursday 15th October. This was a lovely time to get married as our guests could enjoy the beach in the morning and leisurely get ready. The main heat of the day has gone making it more comfortable for everyone.
For me the bride I was at Georges Hairdresser in the Arisnoe Hotel Limassol having fresh flowers(made by Anne)put in my hair. George wove small white rose blooms into my style and it was beautiful.
We asked Anne for simple flowers and she made a cake topper and table decoration, button holes and corsages for each guest, my bouquet and a buttonhole for Phil. I chose yellow and white roses mixed with eucalpytus and all of these were local blooms.
The ceremony was very simple (10 mins approx), relaxed and informal but a really special occasion for us both and the grounds were beautiful for family photos.
Confetti throwing is allowed - I had purchased bougenvillia off the net to have especially for my wedding day.
We then went on to our Reception which was held at Georges Bar - Arco Baleno (Amathous Ave, Limassol) close to our accomodation and a bar we frequent often - George always looks after us. For our wedding day he did a fantastic Whole Dressed Salmon with dips and salad as a buffet starter. Then for the main course we had Georges speciality... Suckling Pig with roast potatoes. We finished our meal with Creme Caramel much, much later!
Finally we cut our wedding cake. Patricia, Weddings under the Cyprus Suns English cake lady made us a lovely moist fruit cake which we complimented with the usual champagne toasts etc.
We wanted to keep it simple, and did things exactly how we wanted. We took our own favours and table decorations out with us however I soon found The Wedding Shop where I met Evelyn who was a great help. I organised two Helium Balloon displays for the tables which were lovely. I found I could have purchased most things in her shop which would have saved packing so much to take out!
We didn't have wedding cars as our family and friends drove the short distance to the Germasoyia Cultural Centre. But we had taken out wedding ribbons to dress all the cars. We always hire our cars from
Andreas Neofytou
who Michele recommends on this site.
What would you reccommend to other brides planning a wedding in Cyprus?...Firstly do not hesitate about getting married in Cyprus - its easy. The legal side can be done in UK or Cyprus just take all the relvant paperwork with you.Check again before you go though as costs change. We had previously met with Xenia (Marriage officer) at the Germasoyia Cultural Centre who arranged everything i.e the dates for us and was always at the end of an email if I had any questions. Don't worry as eveything in Cyprus is friendly and laid back. Getting married at the Cultural Centre was lovely. October is a nice month to marry the temperatures ranged 30 - 35 throughout our stay. We only had 6 months to plan our wedding and this was ample time. Most of my last minute things like finishing touches to hair, flowers and cake were all done in the 3 weeks prior to our wedding when I was able to discuss things in person. We only wanted a small informal affair and were not going to do certain wedding traditions but I now am happy to say that we did exactly what we wanted and both enjoyed the day.

Congratulations Bev and Phil and thanks for sending us your Real Wedding Story.
